Provincial Congresses and Elections of POBs

Kindly be informed that the National Office Bearers (NOB), in their meeting held the 04th September 2010, deliberated on provincial congress proceedings and decided to certify that all congresses were held within constitutionally compliant period and there were free and fair processes of electing the Provincial Office Bearers (POBs).

The NOBs further agreed that workers as delegates, engaged in robust debates, without domination by officials, and this bodes well for quality growth in the union. We further noted that not all positions were contested and in other congress there was no contestation at all.

We will submit that the NEC endorses this NOB certification and welcomed all the elected NEC delegates with the deserved warmth in the second-highest decision making structure of our union.

For now, we call on all people to respect the outcomes of congresses, both in terms of contents of proceedings and election of POBs, as adhering to workers control and members choice.

We humbly take this opportunity to congratulate these provincial leaders and NEC delegates and wish them all the best in their leadership role.

Having said that, we call on all shop union members, shop stewards, branch office bearers and staff members to rally behind the newly elected provincial leaders.
